MLB Network analyst John Smoltz joined the show to talk about the big stories around baseball.

Smoltz weighed in on some of the early hot and struggling teams. “My gage is 30 games to figure out what kind of identity your team is going to take on,” Smoltz said. “Slow starts are going to happen.”

Smoltz weighed in on Jamie Moyer still pitching at 49. He said he couldn’t break into the game right now with that speed. Smoltz said that being a lefty helps. Smoltz said that Moyer is very determined and still has that placement.

Smoltz also gave Dan advice for throwing out the first pitch at Wrigley. He said make sure you warm up, because he even got burned throwing at a high school game.
